Plain and simple, he retired because he did not want to blemish his perfect record. He wanted to go out in style like MJ with the Bulls. Plus it was open-season for him, and he knew there are fighters out there like Margarito that can threaten his flawless resume (aside from the Olympics, which he did lose a couple). He's being smart, sure, but if he ducks Pacman, people will simply see this as taking shortcuts through easier roads; at least DLH took his last beating like a man.

i don't think mayweather quit cause he doesn't want trouble, this guy is undefeated and a great out boxer. it's just unfortunate he lost the passion for it, you got to realise, as a boxer the amount of training you have to go through is just sheer madness.if you slack off for just a week, it'll bite your arse on the night, and mayweather realised even with the millions he will get, it just aint worth it. why arrange a fight where you dont have the desire to train and just show up to lose?

p1noy...hahaha are you out of your mind?? Mayweather is alot faster than Manny Pac....Mayweather would counter the hell out of Pacquiao...i bet that after a few rounds Pacquiao won't be rushing in with punches..because he would have taken a beaten by then.Pacquiao career is base on beating past their prime...SLOW fighters...Morales II,III, MAB II, Diaz...DE LA HOYA. His only good victories came vs. Barrera the 1st x..and Marquez..and he didn't win those fight...IMO.

Hatton was a blown up light welterweight... and was a very limited fighter then compared to Cotto and Margarito, whom he SHOULD have fought.
