he is a great bass player, especially once you take the year in to account 83 - 86. no one was doing what he was doing. now without comparing him to the likes jazz fusion virtuosos, could anyone really name a better metal bass player? people should listen to cliff burton in metallica to really understand his playing and appreciate it, not criticize it unfairly.
